Lodgement of Application Process
The following five steps detail the application process.
- Lodge and complete an application form.
- A confirmation email will be sent to advise that we have received your application.
- We will then send through a list of accommodation options for you to consider.
- You advise The Accommodation People of your preference (acceptance is demonstrated by you paying the required housing deposit and completing any necessary checks in our application forms).
- When The Accommodation People receive your housing deposit and the completed Check-in Forms, you will receive a confirmation letter via email.
Tips for each step
Step 1
- To avoid delays, complete all details marked with a star (*) when lodging your application.
- Ensure you know what you’re looking for and send only ONE application.
- Select your references carefully – they need to be respected members of the community, not family members.


Step 2
- Within 2 business days you will receive an email acknowledging your application. It may be 2 weeks before we are able to offer accommodation solutions that suit you.
- Your surname needs to be quoted when emailing us and paying the housing deposit.


Step 3
- All quotes are in Australian dollars $AUD.
- Based on your preferences and available accommodation, the offer we select is the best we can find. As a company, our directors and senior management have over 70 years collective experience in finding accommodation for tourists, so you are assured that what we offer is the best available accommodation on the Gold Coast.
- You need to confirm your selection within 7 days of receipt. If you don’t, we cannot hold it on your behalf.
- If you don’t accept the offer, you will need to contact us again via email for alternative accommodation options. Remember to please note your surname.


Step 4
- A deposit letter will be sent detailing the method of payment and confirmation.
- To secure your chosen accommodation, you need to pay your housing deposit. If you deposit via bank transfer you MUST use your surname as a reference, otherwise we will not be able to identify who the payment is from.


Step 5
- Once we have received your housing deposit and completed application form (if applicable), The Accommodation People, in conjunction with the establishment and agent will submit the application for approval. If you have a negative tenant history, or your references cannot provide positive feedback, approval may be denied.
- It is at the establishment’s discretion to offer a room for rent to any student who completes the application form and pays the housing deposit – please note that completing these steps does not automatically guarantee you a room.
- You will be notified if you are successful after your application has been forwarded to the establishment, monies received and processed.
- We do not discriminate against race, religion, sexual-orientation, national or ethnic origin.


Step 6
- Upon arriving at the establishment, you will need to complete any outstanding documents and collect your keys.
- You will not have access to the accommodation until this is completed.
